I saw that Sonex was now selling pre-drilled channel stock, and remembering how much I didn’t enjoy trying to line up pre-drilled holes to the ones I made, I decided that spending a few hundred dollars for the wing-kit pre-drilled channels stock was worth it. This made the assembly a breeze. I wish I had this when I was working on the empennage!

I first cut some of the spacers for the ribs. I cut a few of them too short as you can see, and I ran out of material, so I ordered some new stock to get some more of the right length. These are the thick spacers. There are a bunch of thin spacers too which are cut out of sheet aluminum. I didn’t take pictures of them, but they’ll show up later when attaching the ribs to the spar.

It was very easy clecoing together the new parts. This assembly didn’t need to use the splice plates either because the entire spar channel came in one piece.

Next step was to updrill and rivet and bolt everything together.
