The root ribs need gussets that have to be fabricated from some angle stock. This was a bit of a pain because the plans don’t have dimensions. The plans are full size.

The pilot hole locations were transferred to a piece of paper before transferring to the gussets.

After this was done, I placed the forward and aft ribs at their stations on the main spar to get an idea of how it would look.

Looks good!

I proceeded to finish work on the root ribs. The ends that attach to the root rib angles have to be cut. Also, one of the aft ribs has to be trimmed at the aft end where it attaches to the rear spar. A separate angle has to be riveted at this location.

The ribs were then attached to the root rib angles and clecoed. I updrilled everything to final size, but riveted only the gussets to the rib. I will be riveting the rib assembly to the attach angles after aligning everything on the wing.

I also riveted the gussets to the other ribs.

At this point, all the ribs are ready to attach to the spar. I just need to finish up the spar!
